StumbleUpon…I Love You.
Social Bookmarking July 26th, 2007Yesterday I added one of my blog posts to the StumbleUpon network. Tagged it with ‘marketing, seo, sem, search engine optimization, and search engine marketing. I went over to my traffic stats Wordpress dashboard as I do daily and noticed that my traffic had spiked about 500%! I at first thought that something was wrong, that maybe I accidentally logged into someone else’s Wordpress account. Once I looked at the referring URL I was corrected. A single StumbleUpon submission has garnered over 600 visitors and climbing! Now I just have to fine tune my content to keep these visitors.

Usually you get a lot of traffic to your site the first couple of days after the stumble, then it will die if the stumblers won’t vote on your site with a thumbs up. After a while the traffic spike can return for a couple of days. this spike will come as a surprise.
At least that has been my experience.

Nice one! I get StumbleUpon spikes every so often, and it feels good. As you said, it’s just about finding a way of keeping them there.
